Original Masala Chai โ€“ Classic Indian Spiced Tea Bags โ˜•๐ŸŒฟโœจ

A legendary favourite, Original Masala Chai is crafted with bold Indian black tea and blended with the finest spices โ€” ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom from the Malabar Coast.

Celebrated for its spicy-fruity character, warming depth, and aromatic balance, this timeless blend has delighted travellers for generations. Created by India's Master Tea Taster, Sanjay Kapur, it is an authentic expression of chai tradition.

๐ŸŒฟ Staple-Free Tea Bags โ€“ Eco-friendly, made from natural, non-bleached filter paper ๐ŸŒฟ Real Spices, No Artificial Flavours ๐ŸŒฟ Origin โ€“ India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ (Assam Tea + Malabar Spices) ๐ŸŒฟ Flavour Profile โ€“ Spicy, fruity, aromatic, warming ๐ŸŒฟ Caffeine Level โ€“ Medium-High

๐ŸŒฟ Why This Tea? The original is always the hardest to improve โ€” and for good reason. Original Masala Chai is not a formula that evolved from experimentation or trend. It is the authentic expression of a chai tradition refined over generations along India's spice-trading coastline, where Malabar ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom have been combined with bold black tea in proportions that chai lovers have recognised as correct for as long as the blend has existed. What makes Sanjay Kapur's version the definitive one is the same quality that has always distinguished Sancha's approach โ€” real, whole Malabar Coast spices sourced with the same provenance and rigour applied to every ingredient in the collection, blended with the precision of forty-plus years of mastery into a formula that delivers its celebrated spicy-fruity character with complete consistency and authentic authority. Staple-free, non-bleached filter paper โ€” because a chai of this integrity deserves packaging that matches its purity. No shortcuts. No compromises. No artificial flavours. Just the original, exactly as it has always been.

๐Ÿ‘ค Who Is It For? This blend is for everyone โ€” and that is stated with the same sincerity as the chai tradition it represents. It's for the seasoned chai drinker who wants the authentic Malabar spice formula in the convenience of a tea bag without sacrificing a single note of the real thing. It's for the international traveller who first encountered genuine Indian masala chai on a journey through the subcontinent and has been searching for it in its most authentic, commercially available form ever since. It's for the daily tea drinker who wants their most-reached-for cup to be made with real spices and genuine craft rather than artificial flavouring and mass-production shortcuts. And it makes one of the most universally appreciated and instantly beloved gifts in the collection โ€” for anyone, of any background, whose relationship with tea is improved by the addition of something warm, spiced, and deeply, authentically Indian.

๐Ÿ•˜ When to Drink It? Original Masala Chai is unambiguously a morning and mid-morning tea โ€” and it has been since the first chai wallah brewed a batch at dawn for the first travellers of the day. In the morning, brewed strong with whole milk and sweetened generously in the classic Indian style, it delivers everything the first cup of the day should be โ€” bold, warming, aromatically alive, and caffeinated enough to make the next few hours feel genuinely manageable and productive. The spicy-fruity character of Malabar ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom working together in the first cup is one of the most immediately and consistently mood-lifting experiences that any tea in any tradition has ever produced. As the mid-morning chai break โ€” that sacred Indian ritual of stopping everything for a cup โ€” it delivers the reset, the warmth, and the sensory comfort that no biscuit, no coffee, and no plain black tea can approximate with equal satisfaction. On cold or grey days at any hour, the medium-high caffeine and full Malabar spice profile make this the most reliable and deeply comforting cup in the collection โ€” the chai that generations of travellers have depended on for warmth, energy, and the particular reassurance that comes from something timeless, authentic, and completely, honestly real. Brew for 3โ€“4 minutes in boiling water, add whole milk generously, sweeten to taste โ€” and drink it hot, as it has always been drunk, by everyone who has ever needed exactly this.

I was worried the spice would taste artificial, but the cinnamon and cardamom actually come through like a proper stovetop brew. The staple-free bags are a nice touch too, no metal clip floating around in my cup. Two minutes steeped and it's already plenty strong.

The ginger gives it a proper kick without being overpowering, and the staple-free bags mean I'm not fishing around for metal bits in my cup. Two bags in a mug with a splash of milk tastes like the chai I used to get from a street stall.

The cardamom really comes through without drowning out the black tea, which is rare in a bagged chai. I like that the filter paper is staple-free too, so I can just drop one in a mug at work and not worry about fishing out metal. Solid spice level for something this convenient.
